Jimena Schlaepfer, Mexico City, 1982. Graduated from
the National School of Painting, Sculpture and
Engraving "La Esmeralda" (2001-2006).
Her work has been developed in the field of drawing, painting,
textile, sculpture and installation. She has several solo
and group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad,
highlighting Cosmogonía Trilobite at the Santo
Domingo Cultural Center, Oaxaca in 2016 and Ossis
Lux at the Museum of Oaxacan painters MUPO also
in 2016. In collective shows such as Esculturas de la
tierra at Complejo Cultural los Pinos, Mexico City in
2019 and Delirios Urbanos at Galería Cuarto de
maquinas in 2017.
She received a grant from FONCA for Young Creators in the period 2006-2007 and in the period 2011-2012 and in 2014 she obtained an artistic residency at the Banff Centre in Canada. She has won
the OMI residencies in Columbia County NY and
Vermont Studio Center in the state of Vermont in the
USA, both for the year 2022.
She has been awarded several distinctions such as: Prize in the Moving Image Category of the Second National Biennial of University Visual Art of Toluca in 2005 and Honorable Mention in
the Biennial of Emerging Art of Monterrey in 2006.
